Synopsis:

The delegate will review strategies for completing esthetic Class V restorations and isolation concepts in a distal free end extension case without an anchor tooth for rubber dam placement in an everyday clinical workflow.  Bevel concepts will be discussed.  Layering concepts in posterior esthetic composites will be reviewed in terms of sequence, with an emphasis on tint placement and timing for realistic-looking outcomes.  A review of esthetic parameters relative to both pink and white esthetics will be completed with strategies given for balancing asymmetries using Gemini SuperPulsed dual-wavelength laser-guided gingival recontouring in cases with osseous recontouring required.  A review of biologic width parameters to be re-established is planned along with myths debunking the ability of lasers vs. retraction cord in their role to cause recession – which causes more?  A review of incisor hypomineralization, its etiology and current best practice protocol for staged minimally-invasive treatment will be reviewed.  Finally, a review of anterior esthetic layering will be undertaken with a review of “how much to prepare to achieve a color improvement.”

Learning Outcomes:

1) The attendee will review everyday restoration isolation challenges and receive strategies to overcome these.
2) The attendee will review a predictable posterior layering protocol as part of an adhesion strategy that will minimize post-operative sensitivity and maximize microshear bond strengths.
3) The attendee will learn how to manage limited osseous recontouring in the realm of gingival recontouring for balancing gingival asymmetries in the smile zone.
4) The attendee will review the components of the SkoolToolz Hu-Friedy kit and how this can simplify their everyday direct and indirect restorative armamentaria.
5) The attendee will review the importance of proper light intensity and duration during curing.  How much is enough?  How much is too much?  Is there such a thing as too much?
6) The attendee will review the best practice protocol for the staged treatment of incisor hypomineralization.
7) The attendee will review anterior layering strategies for optimal esthetic.
