How Do Radiographs Guide our Decision Making in Endodontics?
LECTURE SYNOPSIS: 8.00am – 9.30am
Scrutinizing radiographs is one of the essential skills and a key component in successful treatment planning and performing endodontic procedures. Radiographs assist clinicians in: 1) identifying both pathologic and non-pathologic changes in periradicular tissues 2) reaching diagnoses 3) assessing, confirming and documenting the completion of every step of an endodontic procedure (i.e. pre-op, working length determination, cone-fit, obturation, post-op, etc.) and 4) following up and evaluating the outcome of an endodontic treatment.
This lecture, through presentation of several clinical cases, highlights the importance of scrutinizing the pre-operative imaging and shows its impact on the endodontic decision making. It further demonstrates the value of CBCT imaging in facilitating endodontic diagnostic and treatment decisions, potentially eliminating unnecessary treatments.

Kylee Barnett
Invisalign’s Virtual Care
Kylee Barnett
Invisalign’s Virtual Care: Stay Informed, Stay on Track – A Seamless Virtual Clear Aligner Patient Journey From Start to Finish
Lecture: 8.15am – 9.30am
SYNOPSIS:
TBA
Kylee Barnett
Kylee’s passion for dentistry started at a young age with a non-consenting root canal, an awful dental receptionist, and a surprisingly large bill to cap off the traumatizing experience. She has dedicated over 17 years to helping patients, team members, and colleagues across North America make sense of the complicated world of dentistry to ensure this type of exchange never happens to other patients.
Kylee’s love for Invisalign came in early 2017 after taking a team training course taught by Dr. David Galler. Motivated more than ever to help improve patients’ health and smiles, she took a practice that almost solely placed brackets to complete orthodontic cases (and had completed a mere 5 Invisalign cases per year previously) to Platinum within the first 6 months, and then onto Diamond status within the first year. More impressively, she successfully established the first ever GP Invisalign-only practice in British Columbia through implementation of momentum-driven, highly efficient yet comprehensive methods. To date, she works alongside Dr. Galler trialing products and patient-care systems to help keep AACA doctors and practices at the forefront of the clear aligner market and best practices. It is her honour to be immersed in the AACA community and a part of the Elite Office Manager team.
Kylee continues to leave her mark on the dental profession through educating other AACA practices with recipes for successfully incorporating Invisalign into their daily workflow as well as Invisalign Virtual Care. Kylee has dedicated the past year to helping offices across North America implement Virtual Care seamlessly into their practices.
Outside of being a Regional Manager, and treatment coordinator and office (and life) manager to Dr. Andrea Dernisky at their two practices, Kylee loves to spend time with her family at the lake camping, dirt biking, and snowboarding!

Dr. David MacDonald
Radiology
Dr. David MacDonald
Radiology for the 21st Century Dentist
Lecture: 9.45am – 10.45am
SYNOPSIS:
1. Since the establishment of the first program in dental radiology in 1911, conventional intra-oral dental radiography has remained the main-stay of most radiography, adapting from analog to digital relatively effortlessly, until to was confronted with COVID-19, when they were deemed to be aerosol-generating procedures (AGPs). The pandemic brought into view alternative extra-oral modalities, Under the cover of the CBCT revolution, DPRs continued to improve in image quality and the usability so much so that the and their spin-off technologies such as extraoral bitewings (EBWs) are particularly invaluable for children and those patients resistant to intra-oral radiography. Although the pandemic is officially in the past, COVID-19 has already prepared the global dental profession to meet the next pandemic! We are ready!
2. Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) since its advent in 1999, has impacted almost every aspect of dentistry. Its small footprint and light structure have facilitated its installation of almost 500 units in BC. Although the literature is now replete with CBCT reports, only a few address the higher levels of clinical efficacy that positively impact appropriate diagnosis (and indications for its use) and the subsequent patient management. This will be demonstrated with particular regards to endodontics. Furthermore, the importance of incidental findings becomes a problem forcing the dentist serving the community to enter the remit once the almost sole preserve of the oral and maxillofacial surgeon or radiologist. Help is at hand!
3. Artificial intelligence (AI) is not simply a species of technology, but covers a wide spectrum of technologies ranging from drawing the dentist’s attention to features or lesions that might be overlooked in the usual practice of dentistry to assisting the dentists in deciding whether and how an impacted tooth should be treated and also to where an implant may be placed to avoid violating a neurovascular bunder or other anatomy.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Identify the use of recent radiological developments in the dental office
- Demonstrate professional standards with regards their safe use
- Diagnose the most frequent and important lesions affecting the face and jaws.
- Design or adapt a floorplan that includes such technology in a dental office

The Next Evolution in Full Arch Therapy – Are We Ready for It?
Lecture: 1:30pm – 2:30pm
SYNOPSIS:
Full Arch Therapy… the ‘FINAL FRONTIER’ of Implantology… where many of us travelled, yet are still looking for better directions. Many modalities have been incorporated over the past several decades which include removable locator over dentures, bar-over dentures, and of course the most demanding full arch fixed solutions. At present, the AllonX concept dominates the market. With its simplicity in planning and surgical execution, it is no surprise that this concept has paved the way for many implant surgeons. However, it comes at one major cost … BONE REDUCTION. With advancement in digital technologies, we now can plan and execute both stages of surgery and prosthetics to achieve most biologically-driven, minimally invasive full-arch therapy. Welcome to the world of NBR (No Bone Reduction) FP1, the Next Evolution in Fixed Full Arch Therapy.
OBJECTIVE:
The objective of this presentation is to provide an overview on the novel concept of minimally-invasive, digitally-driven, Surgical and prosthetic approach to a Full Arch Implant Therapy, No Bone Reduction FP1.
